Valheim has been out for three weeks and there are mods already!
If you are unfamiliar with Valheim, it is a brutal exploration and survival game at its heart, in a procedurally generated Viking themed world. You will fight creatures of chaos and ancient enemies of the gods.
It is taking the gaming world by storm, with over 4 million downloads in just three weeks. Feedback is overwhelmingly positive on Steam and it is one of the most streamed games on Twitch.

Valheim plus has been trending on GitHub in C# for the past 9 days!
Before I go into what the mod is all about, first off, I wanted to talk about the person behind the mod and why they decided to release a mod to such a fresh new game.
The developer of the mod is a man named Kevin (aka nX), who surprisingly revealed that this is his first ever mod that he has released.
Kevin is not new to changing game files and developing his own apps though, he started doing this when he was just 12 years old and like most teens had to battle with his parents to get time on the PC. This tug-of-war that all young gamers have experienced went on for a few years, until at the age of 16 Kevin earned enough money to prove to his parents this was not a waste of time.
Fast forward 13 years and Kevin has purchased his own copy of Valheim – now Kevin had no plan to modify the game in any way, but just a short few hours later whilst collecting wood he felt frustrated that he could not collect more in one go. He also got frustrated that he couldn’t rotate the location of his work bench less than 23 degrees, which is the game’s current minimum movement for such an item.
Kevin took to the game files and made some adjustments to customise some of the game features, then shared what he had done in chat on Discord. Instantaneously several members reached out to Kevin, asking for a copy of his game files, understandably Kevin did not want to share his own game files and so was the birth of Valheim Plus.
The launch of Valheim Plus was pretty muted and Kevin noted a few hundred downloads over the first few days. He decided to share what he had created on reddit and his post was upvoted over 2 thousand times!
All of this has happened in the last 7 days!
Overnight the mod took off, doubling the total downloads in just a day. Kevin started a Discord server due to a demand and has been fixing bugs, adding more features since. The server has been up and running for 5 days and has 3k members already!
He has several people now working with him on the mod, which is more than Iron gate AB had on the development of the official game. There is a request thread on Discord that is purged every day, where Kevin and his team are doing their best to add the most requested features.
All of this has happened in the last 7 days!
