Minecraft Breeze

With the new trial chambers that came with the Minecraft 1.21 update also came new mobs to fight inside. The most elusive of these is the breeze. In Minecraft history, there has only ever been one similar mob, the blaze. Like its fiery counterpart, a Minecraft breeze is a block surrounded by swirling clouds. It also attacks from range by throwing projectiles. However, despite their similar appearance and behavior, there are some fundamental differences between the two. Moreover, the Minecraft breeze drop is one of the most sought-after items introduced in the ‘Tricky Trials’ update: the breeze rod.

Overview Minecraft Breeze:

  • only appears inside trial chambers
  • attacks from afar with wind charges
  • only source for breeze rods
  • immune to most ranged attacks

How to Find a Breeze in Minecraft

As mentioned above, the Minecraft breeze spawns exclusively within trial chambers. During a trial, the trial spawners installed in the chambers continuously spawn in new mobs to fight. Suffice it to say that a Minecrat breeze is almost guaranteed to show up within any given trial run. It mainly spawns from spawners that are surrounded by copper blocks, with the exact arrangement of the blocks signaling their identity. As you can see, finding a Minecraft breeze is not exactly difficult. Rather, fighting it is the real issue.

How to Fight a Minecraft Breeze

Once a Minecraft breeze spawns in, you will notice that it has some distinct behavioral patterns. Suiting its ranged attack style, a Minecraft breeze mob tends to stay in the air, throwing wind charges at you. These charges have two effects: first, they damage you and second, they push you back. While the damage is actually manageable, only measuring up to half a heart, the pushing effect is the real danger you will be faced with.

While this knockback effect does not do any damage directly, it can become rather dangerous for you. It often pushes players down heights, leading to their untimely demise. Moreover, while clever players can use the Minecraft breeze’s wind charge attack to take out other mobs that spawn inside the chamber, the attack does not cause these mobs to attack the Minecraft breeze. Similarly, the Minecraft breeze ignores other mobs when they attack it, although it does deflect their arrows back at them, should it come their way.

However, as any other mob, the Minecraft breeze has some weaknesses you can exploit. While it does have a solid range attack, the breeze does not attack while a player is in a 1-2 block range. Thus, if you can close the distance to the Minecraft breeze, you basically have won. Keep in mind that the breeze never really comes alone though. The numerous zombies and skeletons that spawn in tandem will attack you relentlessly. The best tactic is to use a friend in multiplayer and split responsibility among you.

Tip

While the Minecraft breeze mob is completely immune to ranged projectiles (even returning them back to the sender and damaging them), it can be damaged by wind charges.

Minecraft Breeze Drops

Besides the usual XP orbs, the Minecraft breeze drops include one more item with a 100% chance: the breeze rod. This little item is useful for several purposes. The most important recipes involving the Minecraft breeze rod are:

  • 1x breeze rod = 4x wind charge

  • 1 breeze rod + 1x heavy core = 1x mace

While you can use the wind charges to fight back against the breeze and get even more Minecraft breeze rods, the mace is a new weapon introduced in the same update. Its smashing attack and high damage can be a real lifesaver in a trial run. Additionally, you need a breeze rod to craft the new flow armor smithing template While a Minecraft breeze does not drop anything else beside the breeze rod, it drops it with a 100% chance, making every Minecraft breeze kill relevant.

Differences between the Minecraft Breeze and the Blaze

While the Minecraft breeze and the blaze are both hostile mobs, they have distinct differences in appearance, behavior and habitat. The Minecraft breeze has a whimsical, ghostly appearance, characterized by its small, floating form and swirling, animated texture that emits wind-like particles. In contrast, while the blaze’s body is similar in build, it has a fiery, floating form with a bright yellow body surrounded by rotating rods and emits smoke and fire particles.

In terms of behavior, both Minecraft breeze and blaze tend to keep their distance and attack using their respective elements. The breeze floats smoothly through the air, navigating around obstacles with ease. The blaze, on the other hand, floats and hovers but tends to stay within a certain height range and does not navigate around obstacles as smoothly as the breeze. Moreover, the blaze has means to attack in melee, while the Minecraft breeze stops combat once a player comes within a certain reach.

Regarding habitat, the breeze is found exclusively in the trial chambers; a hostile and challenging environment introduced in the ‘Trails & Tales’ update. Conversely, the blaze is native to the Nether, specifically within nether fortresses, which are openly accessible structures similarly filled with various hostile mobs and hazards.

In summary, the Minecraft breeze and the blaze differ significantly in their appearance and attack methods, with the breeze using wind projectiles and the blaze using fireballs. They also inhabit different biomes, with the breeze in the trial chambers and the blaze in the Nether. Thus, while there is definitely a kinship between the two, you should not confuse them. Doing so would lead to a lot of problems when you face them.

Fun Fact:

Did you know that a Minecraft 1.21 breeze can’t become invisible? While their legs and heads can become invisible, the flowing air and the glowing eye effects they have in their body stays visible regardless. Other quirks the Minecraft breeze has include being aggressive towards iron golems and the unique ability to turn while in a boat.

Conclusion: Minecraft Breeze
