Minecraft Dragons

Who doesn’t want to tame and ride dragons in Minecraft? Numerous players have scoured the Minecraft worlds and even made it to the Ender Dragon. However, the reward you get for defeating the Ender Dragon, the infamous Ender Dragon Egg, is nothing more than a fancy decoration. If you’re wondering, “How do you tame a dragon in Minecraft?” or “How do I hatch the Minecraft dragon egg?”, then you’ve come to the right place. We’ll show you which dragons you can encounter in Minecraft and how you too can become a dragon tamer.

The only dragon in Vanilla Minecraft

There is only one dragon in vanilla Minecraft: the Ender Dragon. You can only find it in the End. The Ender Dragon is probably the most famous enemy in the game, along with the Creepers and the Endermen. This huge monster is the final boss in Minecraft and not only beckons with a huge amount of experience orbs, but also with an item that can’t be found anywhere else: the Minecraft Dragon Egg. This egg only exists once in each game world and is proof of victory over the Ender Dragon.

How can I spawn the Minecraft Ender Dragon?

However, once you have defeated the Ender Dragon, there are no more dragons in the entire game. If you want to face the Ender Dragon again, you have to perform a ritual. To do this, you need four Ender Crystals, which you place on the long sides of the Ender Well. Once you have done this, the dragon will be revived and you can fight it again. In this case, it only leaves behind 500 experience orbs, but gives you the opportunity to collect the Minecraft Dragon Breath again and again. All you need is a glass bottle to collect the breath in. As soon as the purple cloud appears, you only have to interact with the bottle and you have already collected the breath of the end dragon. This breath allows you to brew the most useful potions in Minecraft. Dragon Breath can be combined with any potion to create a lingering potion. In a lingering potion, the effect will not be on a single target, but will remain as a cloud for a short time. This way you can share the effect with friends or create dangerous zones for your enemies.

How to ride a dragon with a Minecraft Dragon Mod

If you want more options than just fighting the ender dragon, you can resort to a mod. In this section we will introduce you to two Minecraft dragon mods that will satisfy your hunger for more dragons.

Minecraft Dragons: Ice and Fire Mod

Probably the most famous mod for dragons is Ice and Fire. This mod adds three new types of dragons to the game:

  • ice dragons
  • fire dragons
  • lightning dragons

This may not sound like much at first, but the mod has a lot of other content besides dragons. Other fantasy creatures such as cyclops, sea serpents and pixies are also added. New bosses, such as the Hydra or the dreaded Queen, give the mod a great appeal. Armour for dragons, tame baby dragons and armour made from dragon bones are all included, of course.

If you fancy a well-balanced mod that offers more than just dragons, you can’t go wrong with Ice and Fire. Note, however, that the mod is still under development, so the content may still change.

Easily ride dragons in Minecraft with Dragon Mounts: Legacy

Dragon Mounts: Legacy is a further development of the older Dragon Mount mod. While the mod itself doesn’t add any new dragons, it does include an extensive egg hatching and dragon riding system. If you want to tame dragons and hatch their eggs with a Minecraft mod, Dragon Mounts: Legacy will help. Whether it’s an Ender dragon or dragons from other mods, the mechanics for taming and riding are very well worked out here.

Fighting or taming dragons: No problem with G-Portal
