Find water in Aloft
Fortunately, getting water in Aloft is not a big challenge and you don't even need a container to begin with. Simply go to any water source, such as a pond or a waterfall, and collect the water with your hands - and it will end up in your inventory.
Found water - now what?
As you don't need water in Aloft to ensure your survival, you're probably wondering what exactly you should do with the water in your inventory. That's understandable, of course, so we'll enlighten you. Even though water is not an important source of hydration, you can still drink it (provided it is clean water). However, drinking water gives you a temporary buff, which ensures that you can attack faster. So if, for example, you want to take down the corruption from the flying islands and the mushroom-like creatures, you should treat yourself to some water.
However, clean water is also used for production in Aloft, for example for paper. You will need paper for the Aloft Sketchbook, which you can use to get creative. Water is also needed for cultivation. If you have already grown your first seedlings in planters, you will of course need to water them so that they can grow. You will either be lucky and a rain shower will do the trick or you will have to make a bucket of leaves to collect water and water the plants. You make the bucket from the following resources:
- 2x Leaf Cloth (made from 3x Leaf)
- 1x Rope
The last two options for which you need clean water are currently coffee and a mysterious tea called “Wisteria Tea”. For both, you need 1x Clean Water and 2x Coffee or Wisteria.

You know what you need clean water for, so it's high time to find out how to get the dirty water clean. We don't need to beat around the bush, you can get clean water simply by combining 1x Dirty Water with 1x Charcoal. Simple as that.
