Fjordur

Features of the Map

• 4 new creatures named Fjordhawk, Desmodus, Andrewsarchus and the mysterious Fenrir

• Vardiland, Vannaland, Bolbjord and Balheimr are the names of the four islands where you can experience the breathtaking landscape of Fjordur

Nordic setting with wow effect

Fjordur is the latest map of ARK: Survival Evolved and offers a real feast for the eyes with its Nordic setting. A multitude of different and very detailed caves, reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings in their design, ensure a lot of adventure.

The rather cold appearance of the map, which also includes a lot of Scandinavian nature in the form of trees and bushes, is additionally complemented with the Viking theme. You can set out on the frosty sea with Viking boats, and at the same time it's worth taking a look at the very elaborately designed underwater world.

Ragnarok

Features of the Map

• More new creatures appear on Ragnarok, including Polar Bears, Ice-Wyverns and the fabled Griffin
• Ragnarok is one of the largest maps in ARK: Survival Evolved, covering 144 square kilometers
• Two new bosses named Iceworm Queen and Lava Golem
• Isolated storms, an active volcano causing lava flows, geysers, ruins and buildable caves are just a few of the special features
• The Tek Shield and Tek Sword can be found on the map
• Year of release: 2017

Mixed diversity

On Ragnarok you will find a variety of biomes and therefore almost everything that the explorer's heart desires. Whether it's a dragon canyon, lush green grasslands, icy snowlands, extensive mountain landscapes, or a huge ocean - you'll find it all on Ragnarok.

Occasional storms, a volcano that can erupt and let meteorites rain down, and geysers are just three of the included highlights on Ragnarok. The map also includes several new creatures, including the Griffin. A graceful mythical creature in the form of a chimera of an eagle and a lion.

Aberration

Features of the Map

• Several new creatures are added to Aberration, including luminous beasts, the “Nameless”, and probably the most powerful creature, the “Reaper King”.
• Aberration is a new type of map with underground cave systems that serve as hiding places from radioactivity, for example
• A variety of new tools and other items such as batteries, railguns and explosive ammunition
• Abnormal temperatures, earthquakes and radioactive zones are elements you have to face on Aberration
• Hazard Suits against the radiation, Glow Sticks for more visibility in the dark caves and a railgun are exemplary tools to ensure your survival
• Year of release: 2017

An unknown world

Aberration takes you down a whole new and different path in ARK: Survival Evolved. Underground cave worlds create an oppressive atmosphere and novel tools come into play. Climb steep walls with grappling hooks and use gliding suits and ziplines.

The world on Aberration is no longer the way you know it. The sun emits radioactive radiation that can cause terrifying mutations in some creatures and kill organic life. Earthquakes, dangerous temperatures and poisonous liquids and plants will make it difficult for you to survive. Be stronger than all of this, explore the long-lost secrets of the world and find out what the future holds.

Extinction

Features of the Map

• Many new scary creatures can be found on Extinction, especially the Titans should be highlighted
• Exclusively on Extinction you can also meet so-called corrupted creatures, they are infected by Element which makes them extremely aggressive
• Temporary eclipse, meteor showers that destroy creatures and structures, or orbital supply drops are three of the map's special features.
• An area that houses 3 proto-ARKs
• The two new mechanical creatures called Enforcer and Scout can be crafted with parts from destroyed creatures and blueprints, as they are not tamable
• Find for example Mek Siege Cannon Module (M.S.C.M.) which need Cannon Shells as ammunition or the Mek Rocket Launcher Module (M.R.L.M.)
• Release year: 2018

New challenges await

Similar to Aberration, new challenges await you in Extinction. The wasteland has engulfed the world, leaving behind a ruined Earth. Near the frosty snowy area lies the overgrown and abandoned city called Sanctuary, which is guarded by the Titans.

If you want to see something different from the map, take a look at the wasteland with its foul-smelling sulfur fields. And if you want to show all your strength, you should venture into the Forbidden Zone. But be warned, dangerous and depraved creatures guard the area and are rather reluctant to visit.

Lost Island

Features of the Map

• Three new creatures, including one chosen by the ARK community, are added to Lost Island, one of which is the terrifying Amargasaurus
• 150 square kilometers in size, inspired by Tamriel, the continent of "The Elder Scrolls" game series
• Build tree houses in the forest canopy, dive into the depths of the ocean, or explore the snow-covered peaks and caves in search of treasures
• Wyvern and Ice Wyvern trenches near the blue and red obelisks harbor some nests
• Audible loud roar of the boss in the northwestern part of Lost Island
• Release date: 2021

More of Everything

Whether it's menacing lava pools, an abandoned ruined city in the redwood biome, a lake filled with nothing but black pearls, tropical jungles with massive waterfalls, undiscovered cave worlds, or the vast depths of the ocean, Lost Island is everything - and more of it.

The very large and extensive community map also brings with it three new creatures and is the first map where a creature was chosen by the ARK community via voting. Climb the steep mountains with the Dinopithecus or use the Sinomacrops as a companion, which, as long as it sits on your shoulders, will break your fall and get you out of dangerous situations.

Last but not least - The Island

Now that we've introduced you to what we think are the best maps in ARK: Survival Evolved, there's one map we don't want to leave out: The Island.

The very first map for ARK: Survival Evolved is still one of the most popular among the players of the survival hit. And that's no surprise. Different climatic and geological regions provide plenty of details for exploration and research, and you'll also find the three large obelisks, which are also reflected in the game's logo, located in a large triangle on The Island.
