Conan Exiles Horse Guide
The map in Conan Exiles is huge and therefore the paths of your journeys are correspondingly long. However, the survival game has a support up its sleeve: the mounts. Besides rhinos you can also use horses as mounts in Conan Exiles - how you can find them and use them as mounts is explained in the following GPORTAL blog.
Where can I find horses?
Having a horse in Conan Exiles is a great thing, because you can not only use them as mounts, but also build a stable and fill it with several of these elegant creatures and thereby build your own little cavalry. You can get your first horse by searching for a foal and then carrying it to your base - foals are heavy, though, so you should have a Thrall with you to help you carry it if you want to take several foals directly.
The best place to look for foals is near rivers and lakes surrounded by lots of green grass, as that is where they prefer to stay. Once you have spotted one, you must approach it carefully and then quickly pack it into your or your Thrall's inventory. Once you have arrived at your base, you must place the foal in a stable and raise it.
A stable for your foal
So, for a foal, a classic animal pen is not suitable, you need to build a stable to let it grow up sheltered. A stable requires the following resources to build: 15x Brick, 10x Shaped Wood and 10x Twine. Once your foal has taken its place in the stable, you will need to feed it - plant fibers are recommended for this, as they are fairly quick and easy to obtain.
From horse to mount
Once your little foal has grown into a handsome horse, it is time for your horse to move on from its stable and discover the big wide world of Conan Exiles. Before you can use your horse as a mount, you need a saddle - but there are more than enough types in Conan Exiles and they can be made from level 20, 40 and 60, respectively, for which you also need a Saddler's Worktable.
The various saddles also offer their own benefits, such as more defense, maneuverability or agility for your horse. In addition to the workbench and high-quality resources, you also need different talents for stronger levels of the saddles, which are called as follows:
- Level 20: Novice Saddle Maker
- Level 40: Journeyman Saddle Maker
- Level 60: Expert Saddle Maker
Is it possible to level up my horse?
In Conan Exiles not only you can level up with more and more game time and experience, but also your horse profits from excursions into the big and barbarian world. If you feed your horse with vines while leveling up, its health points will keep increasing. Once the maximum of them is reached, you should feed your horse Asura's Glory - it will ensure that your horse's health can regenerate quickly.
By the way, your horse will not only level up when you use it as a mount, it is enough for it to be near you while you are fighting enemy foes or engaging in mounted combat, i.e. sitting on your horse during battles - note, however, that you can be knocked off your horse if your stamina is too low. By the way, if you wonder if it makes a difference what appearance your horse has: it does not.
Important: You should not jump down any high hills with your horse, because your horse can take damage from it and even die in case of bigger damage. If your horse dies, it is irretrievable. Also important to know is that your horse will flee from fights as long as you do not use it as a mount.
