FS25: Goats and water buffaloes as profit generators

Goats and water buffaloes are the two new animal species in Farming Simulator 25. But they are not only great to watch, you can also make a lot of profit with them. You can find out exactly how this works and all the information about the two animals in the GPORTAL blog.

Goats: Strong-willed and extremely profitable

The first animal species we would like to tell you more about is the goat. You can buy them in the store at 0, 3 or 16 months of age. As soon as the goats have passed the age of 8 months and are healthy, they can have offspring - you just have to make sure that there is enough space in the barn.

If you are interested in breeding your own goats, you can sell them for a profit. However, this is only really worthwhile when the goats are fully grown. Apart from that, goats and water buffaloes unlock new products. The goats produce goat's milk, which you can also sell, but we would recommend processing it into goat's cheese to make even more profit. Of course, you will need new machines and buildings for this, but it is worth it.

Goats prefer grass and hay as a source of fodder, with grass being the cheaper choice and easily available by simply building a meadow. You can produce hay yourself or buy it if you don't have the time or inclination to produce it yourself. When raising goats and other animals, make sure that they are always in good health, well cared for and receive high-quality feed so that you can achieve the best prices when selling adult goats. You can place goats on a pasture together with sheep, saving space and allowing you to feed both species at the same time and collect their products.

Water buffalo: big animal, big profit

Water buffalo are similar to goats - you can sell them as adults for a profit or offer their new products, which are in high demand. You can purchase water buffalo in three different age stages after building a stable: 0, 6 and 18 months.

If you are interested in letting the water buffalo grow up healthy so that you can then sell them profitably, you can plan for this from the age of 18 months. When they reach this age, they will also reproduce, provided there is enough space and they are in good health. If you prefer to delve into further production, you can either sell the buffalo milk or use it to make buffalo mozzarella and make a good profit. Water buffaloes also produce slurry, which you can use to improve the quality of your fields.

Hay and grass are also in high demand as fodder for water buffalo and thanks to their considerable size, they could be described as animal lawnmowers. However, you should also feed TMR (total mixed ration) to ensure the productivity and quality of the water buffalo products. TMR is a mixture of hay, silage and straw. So let your water buffalo “mow” the grass in the meadow and use TMR specifically to be able to sell high-quality products. Just like goats, water buffalo can live peacefully together with sheep and even cows and goats in a pasture.

Proper husbandry of water buffalo and goats

In the menu you can get a very good overview of the status of your animals and your stables. You can view the age of the animals, check their health and check whether any offspring are already on the way and how far the event has progressed. The barn information gives you an insight into productivity, how much straw is available and shows you the amount of buffalo milk and manure (for water buffaloes in this example). You can also see how much feed is left of each type.

When you buy animals, some of them have information under their picture that they need a supply of water. However, this may be a little confusing, especially for new players, as you do not have to supply water to all stables - in larger stables, the animals are automatically supplied with water via troughs. Another difference between the stables is that not all of them are suitable for the animals to produce milk. To obtain milk, at least the large barn must be built, all the smaller ones are only needed for rearing young animals. With Farming Simulator 25, you can now customize the fences of the pastures to your liking or use the pre-selected space.
