Peas, beans and spinach in Farming Simulator 25
Peas, green beans and spinach are three new crops that will enhance your gaming experience in Farming Simulator 25. In the following GPORTAL blog article, we explain how to grow the three new varieties correctly, whether new machines are required and how you can make a profit from them.
Nutrient-rich peas with high yields
Of course, we already know that, in addition to the following new crops, rice and long grain rice are also new plants in Farming Simulator 25. If you would like to find out more, you are welcome to take a look at our FS25 Rice and Long Grain Rice blog. But first, let's get to the new crops.
Peas are a new and exciting addition to the already more than 20 different crops in Farming Simulator 25. Both direct sale after a successful harvest and further processing in various production chains - the opportunities to make a profit with peas are very attractive for motivated farmers.
However, the first step is of course to start by planting the fields. You should make sure that the fields are well prepared and suitable for the peas to create optimal conditions for their growth - don't forget to fertilize them so that the quality of your plants reaches the highest level. Sowing should then be carried out in spring; March or April is a good starting point here. You will need just under 250 liters of seed per hectare, which you can either buy from your local retailer or simply select from the menu under “Seeds”. The growing period for peas is 4 months, which means that the harvest must take place roughly between July and September and the selling price of peas usually reaches its maximum towards the end of the year, while the maximum price for canned peas peaks in September.
Fortunately, no special machine is required for sowing peas; a simple sowing machine will suffice. But when it's time to harvest, you'll have to dig deep into your pockets. For just under half a million, you will need to purchase an OXBO brand machine (OXBO EPD540E), as this is currently the only choice for harvesting peas. Once you have successfully emptied your fields, you can either sell the peas directly or process them into canned peas. The maximum yield (on easy difficulty) is just under 9,600 liters per hectare. You should be aware that the selling prices can vary significantly depending on the period. You should also note that the profit increases significantly if you process your peas into canned peas and then sell them. You can either purchase an existing preserved food factory on your map or buy a new one from the menu.
Green beans for a profitable summer
Green beans, also known as bush beans, are a real all-rounder for the summer season. As with peas, you need to prepare the fields where you want to grow bush beans well. Once again, this means ploughing and cultivating thoroughly and, above all, working enough fertilizer into the soil.
The green beans are then sown in late spring or very early summer. April to June are very suitable for this and the beans take around 4 months to grow. For green beans, you need 280 liters of seed per hectare, which can of course be purchased locally or in a store. During growth, you should make sure to keep the field as free as possible from weeds and possible pests so that the quality of your harvest reaches its maximum.
A new harvester from OXBO (OXBO BP2140e) is also required to harvest the bush beans and this is not exactly cheap either. Here, too, you can expect to pay just under half a million, but it is of course essential for advanced and experienced Farming Simulator players to test out the new crops straight away. The maximum yield per hectare for bush beans is 13,950 liters, which is pretty decent. After the successful harvest, you can of course sell your juicy green beans directly or you can process them further, namely into canned bush beans, which increases the profit again. Pay attention to the selling prices here too, as they vary depending on the period, as with all crops.
Double the profit thanks to spinach
Let's move on to the last new crop in Farming Simulator 25. Spinach is a particularly interesting species, as its rather short growing time makes it suitable for harvesting up to twice a year. So if you are one of those players who are currently pursuing big plans and need the necessary change, then spinach is a good source of income for you.
Preparing the field is no different to preparing any other crop, so you can replay the process in your sleep. If you want to be able to harvest spinach twice a year, you need to sow it very early in March - you only need 10 liters of seed per hectare. Once the spinach is planted, you should also make sure that there are no weeds or pests during the growing season and fertilize the field to ensure high yields.
Now we come back to the subject of costs, because spinach also requires a special harvesting machine from OXBO (OXBO MKB-4TR). At a price of over €600,000, this is no bargain, but it is necessary to be able to harvest the spinach efficiently. Incidentally, the average yield of your spinach field is just under 23,100 liters per hectare - that's quite something. Selling unprocessed spinach won't bring you a goldmine, but processing it into spinach bags can significantly increase your profits. And don't forget that if you sow early and harvest early, you can enjoy the spinach harvest again.
