These Are the #5 Scary Minecraft Mobs
Welcome to October, the best month of the year!
The Best of the Best: Scary Minecraft Mobs
It’s not too hot anymore, you can get out all these comfy hoodies and cozy socks, the sun sets earlier and well, if you can’t go outside as much anymore, you have more time playing video games, don’t you? Oh! And let’s not forget: this month ends with a real shocker – Halloween! Who are we kidding here? We all love a good Halloween. Candy, spooky decorations, great movies and, well, if you like to play Minecraft (which we hope!) you can feel the thrill of scary Minecraft mobs! Yeah, technically you could do that everyday, but it just hits differently in October. We don’t make the rules, okay?
Our Top 5 Minecraft Halloween Mobs!
The biggest problem? To draw the line between ‘Minecraft scary mobs’ and those we would consider ‘Minecraft creepy mobs’. Our solution? We do not draw a line at all. It is dark and mysterious? Great. It lurks in shadowy corners? Perfect. Its noises are disturbing? Hell yeah! These are the rules: it comes out (mostly) at night, explodes or poses a real danger in any other way. Tada, scary Minecraft mobs. Just the way we want them! Grab some candy, lean back in your chair, start a soundtrack from your favorite Halloween movie and enjoy the thrill ride which is called our list of the top 5 scary Minecraft mobs!
#5 The Skeleton
Did you see where this arrow came from? No? We didn’t either. That’s the fun part: those skeletons could be everywhere. Always in for a good ‘ol spooky surprise. A bit annoying at times, sure, but let’s be fair here, who isn’t getting on somebody’s nerves from time to time? In the end, #5 is at the bottom of this list, but at least the skeleton and its derivations made it onto the list of the best scary Minecraft mobs!
#4 The Spider
We couldn’t make a scary Minecraft mobs list without a classic, now could we? No, of course not. Just imagine how many people out there really hate spiders. No one wants to meet them in a game, too. Find one person who is happy getting attacked by one in the game. Nope, 100% more of a creepy encounter and therefore deserving of #4 of the best scary Minecraft mobs.
#3 The Phantom
We wouldn’t be surprised if you’d never heard about this little fella. Imagine you’re out there, enjoying a beautiful night sky and suddenly something is flying around above you. Where did it come from? What does it want from you? Simple: attack you. Just sayin’. It looks a bit like a flying stingray with piercing green eyes. Oh, and it brings its buddies along. So… remember to keep some cats nearby to avoid being attacked from out of the blue. Why do they fear cats? We have no clue. Maybe we underestimate them. Maybe we should put cats on #1 of scary Minecraft mobs?
Spoiler: They’re not on the list.
#2 The Endermen
Like, do we need to explain it? Just take a good look at them and tell us that you would invite them over for tea. We doubt it. So, let’s be real: Whenever you hear some scary story, you could imagine endermen in it. It is just a fact! In the overworld you encounter them only rarely. Luckily, they lurk mostly in the End. And well, it is up to you if you want to go there. Sure, there is also a little friend called the ender dragon and potentially some elytra, but are they really worth it? At least it looks like they are celebrating Halloween everyday on the other side of the portal. Just a little light wouldn’t hurt, don’t you think?
Honorable Mentions:
- bat (Not scary at all, but it is a bat, so…vampire? Definitely Halloween-worthy!)
- creeper (A bit cliche, don’t you think? But yeah, in general a bit scary depending on how safe your home is.)
- wither (This one was close to getting put on the list! But you have to craft it… It’s not really lurking or surprisingly attacking. Not the vibe for this scary Minecraft mobs ranking, sorry.)
- zombie (Doesn’t it feel a bit like recycling? Just stay dead for once, okay? It’s Halloween, not Day of the Dead. Well, you wouldn’t count anyways.)
#1(?) The Warden
We’ll never forget the day we first encountered the warden. It was traumatizing and it happened so fast. Did we tell you? We were out venturing to find some lush caves and axolotls – as you do on a friday night – and then we fell. Yeah, it turned out that was NOT a lush cave! It was the deep dark, a biome you definitely don’t want to encounter unprepared. We turned around, there it stood and boom, we were dead. Remember friends, turn on sounds. At.All.Costs! Meeting the warden unprepared is a sure death sentence and we consider this quite scary to be honest. So, it really deserves to be #1 of the scary Minecraft mobs!
The REAL #1 The Creaking
Are you wondering whether it can really get any worse? Well, that's probably in the eye of the beholder. It was announced at the Minecraft Live event in October: The Creaking ... a tree-like creature that appears in the new Pale Garden biome, and only at night. This new mob hides among the crinkly, pale trees, blending in almost perfectly with its surroundings so you can't see it. Only its bright orange eyes might catch your eye. As long as you look at it, it won't dare to harm you. But as soon as you turn your back on it, it gets closer and closer. It stalks you through the Pale Garden biome. Pretty creepy, isn't it? And the worst thing about it: you can't harm him with conventional weapons, he's virtually invulnerable. Its weak point is a heart hidden in the trees. When you hit The Creaking, you will see some particles whizzing through the air, which will lead you straight to the heart in one of the trees. As soon as you have found the heart, destroy it and the mob will also disappear.
However, there is one piece of good and bad news. Currently (at the time of writing this article), the mob (and its biome) is not yet available on the live servers, but can only be found as an option on Snapshot 24w20a. So don't be afraid to encounter it unless you challenge it.
Just Us and some Creepy Minecraft Mobs
This list of scary and creepy Minecraft mobs is of course up to date as of October 2024. Who knows what Minecraft developers will throw at us with the next updates. Maybe the Grim Reaper himself? We wouldn’t be surprised! Like, have you seen how many hostile mobs there are already? No wonder we can make such lists to fit the Halloween aesthetics. However, there you have it! Do with the list whatever you want. But no matter what: prepare yourself for Minecraft Halloween mobs on a Minecraft server from G-Portal! Because well, there you’ll find those scary Minecraft mobs as well. May the skeletons spare you and the cat army protect you. Anyway, happy Halloween!
