For over a decade, die-hard gamers have been waiting persistently for the launch of the 7 Days to Die 1.0 version and they will not be disappointed. The Fun Pimps have added an incredible amount of new features and changes to the 1.0 version and in the GPORTAL blog we take a closer look at the content.

New HD character system for a better gaming experience

One of the biggest innovations in the 7 Days to Die 1.0 version is the completely new HD character system. Thanks to the newly developed system, the ever-popular survival game introduces new high-resolution models, animations for the first- and third-person perspective, different variants and completely new skin and hair shaders for a more realistic appearance of the characters. Thanks to the completely new possibilities, the character system from the 1.0 version offers a wide range of different options that make your character unique and with the new settings you can make the following adjustments, for example:

  • Gender
  • Ethnicities
  • Face - a total of 32 face options are available to you
  • Eyes - choose from over 30 eye colors
  • Hairstyle and hair color - here you can choose your hairstyle from 20 different styles and select it in 10 different colors
  • Beard and sideburns - even here there are 5 different variants of beards, mustaches and sideburns each

By the way, if you don't feel like customizing your character yourself and just want to start the new 7 Days to Die 1.0 version, you have the option of choosing from pre-set characters. Another cool feature is the new head tracking of a character such as one of your co-op friends. This allows you to see what your friend is looking at - so if they encounter a horde of zombies, you better flee or be brave and stand by their side.

New armor and clothing system for players

Not only has your character received a new overhaul of settings and options, but your armor and clothing have also been given a new system. Your gaming experience in 7 Days to Die will be more immersive and engaging with a high-definition system for looting, crafting and upgrading armor. Notice small but new and prominent details such as the movement of clothing and the wobbling of backpacks as you move. The new armor and clothing system gives you the following options:

  • 16 complete armor sets in female and male variants: 6 medium sets, 5 light sets, 4 heavy sets and 1 primitive set
  • 4 clothing categories: Headgear, body armor, shoes and gloves
  • As soon as you wear a complete armor set consisting of 4 pieces, you will receive a certain bonus, depending on the armor. All other sets grant a bonus, the strength of which depends on the armor piece with the lowest quality level
  • The goggles are now classified as armor attributes and grant you different options
  • Quad pocket mods can be added to armor pieces and there is a stealth boots mod that makes medium and heavy boots make less noise and reduces stamina consumption

With all the changes to the clothing system, clothing and armor will now not only play a visual role, but will also be an important part of your respective game strategy.

Revised challenge system

The Fun Pimps have replaced the old tutorial quest and diary system with a completely new challenge system. This makes it easier for new 7 Days to Die players in particular to be introduced to the game and get to know all the game options as far as possible. There is a completely new quest line for the introduction, which offers you as a player valuable rewards if you follow it and successfully complete the given quests. There are also other challenges to ensure that the game remains fun and that you as a player can always make new discoveries. The more than 100 different challenges are divided into the following categories:

  • Basics of survival in a dangerous world full of bloodthirsty zombies and other dangers
  • Homesteading
  • Advanced survival skills
  • Crafting
  • Traders and crafting
  • Harvesting, gathering and farming
  • Survivor, hunter and of course becoming a first-class warrior against zombies

In general, however, the new challenge system is an incredible relief, and not just for new players in 7 Days to Die. Depending on which goals you currently want to pursue, you can mark them and you will receive some help on how to use new items, for example.

New animal models and zombie variants with updates

To ensure that the animals in 7 Days to Die continue to match the new HD graphics, the game's developers have worked hard to revise them and give them a high-resolution look. The animals have also been given a new hair shader to make their fur look more immersive, and there are new models and more realistic animations. So far, deer, stags, wolves and mountain lions have been given a new look and more aesthetics, but more animals will be added in the following patches.

Of course, the zombies have not been left out of a fundamental overhaul either. With the 1.0 version, The Fun Pimps have introduced completely new zombie variants with new and unique outfits and of course they have various options in terms of hair, clothing and skin color, so that emerging zombie hordes have a natural appearance. According to The Fun Pimps, more variants will appear in further updates, but so far there are the following new 7 Days to Die zombies to discover:

  • A pediatric nurse who comes from a children's ward in a hospital and wears work clothes adorned with cute little bears - she herself is, of course, anything but cute
  • There's a new bowling outfit for the chunky Hawaiian zombie
  • The Destruction Zombie has been given a complete makeover, making it look even scarier

Note: To match the new zombie variants, there are now also brand new blood splatter particles that make the combat experience against the nasty creatures even more immersive. A new gore system has also been introduced, which ensures that the zombies decompose evenly.

Other new features of the 7 Days to Die 1.0 version

  • New vehicle models: There are new vehicles to discover and there are additional seats in different types of vehicles
