The Sakurajima update not only brought new Pals, building materials and weapons to the game, but also some new resources. Among them, of course, is the legendary crude oil, which you need for all kinds of manufacturing processes. As crude oil and Plasteel are new additions to the Sakurajima Update, you can find them in several places on Sakurajima Island - and indeed also at other points on Palpagos. The crude oil can be recognized by its greasy black spots that appear on the ground surrounded by flat stones. To be able to mine crude oil at all, you need to place a so-called crude oil extractor above the crude oil source. However, for the extractor to work, you need to build a base. You first build a base by constructing a Palbox and can then build all kinds of structures in the blue marker shown and have your Pals work on them, for example. You should choose the base location based on the fact that there are at least two oil deposits in the immediate vicinity.

Where to find most of the crude oil

The island of Sakurajima is dotted with numerous patches of slick oil, so of course you need to carefully consider where exactly you want to place your base in order to mine crude oil as quickly and efficiently as possible. On Sakurajima, you will find a particularly large amount of crude oil in the center, east and mountainous regions of the island, making these the best locations for a base.

Why the base is so important for crude oil extraction

It is no longer a secret that the base must be built close to crude oil so that the crude oil extractor can be produced and function primarily. However, depending on the location, your base also becomes a valuable resource gold mine. Depending on where you build your base, you may have the opportunity to collect and process other raw materials in your base in addition to crude oil. However, in addition to all the positive aspects, you must make sure that your base is protected against raids or other hostile opponents - at best, use the predetermined nature of Sakurajima and choose your base location wisely.

The best base locations for crude oil extraction

The center of Sakurajima

As mentioned above, the center of Sakurajima is obviously a good base location. This is mainly due to the high oil reserves and also the good accessibility, as you have virtually everything you need in the center in the immediate vicinity. Another advantage of the center is the climate, as you won't have to deal with freezing cold or unbearable heat. You can also mine there and, if your base is well placed, you can even set up two crude oil extractors - for particularly efficient resource extraction. A big plus point here is the additional crate that spawns near the oil deposits, which can also contain high-quality materials.

The east of Sakurajima

Let's move on to the second location, which is undoubtedly one of the best for building your base for crude oil mining. The east of Sakurajima is very well suited for this, because fortunately there are also two oil fields in the immediate vicinity, where you can place two crude oil extractors with clever placement. In addition to crude oil, you can also collect other materials here, such as mushrooms or coal.

The biggest advantage of this location is the large cliff, which protects you very well from the threat of attack from one side and takes away the worry of having to be careful on all sides. The only important thing here is to keep a watchful eye to the front. If you go even further east, to a place directly on the coast, you can even collect sulphur, which makes the east of Sakurajima one of the best base locations for crude oil mining. In addition, the coast is of course much more protected by the high cliffs that lie directly by the water, which also ensures a reasonably carefree time.

The northwest of Sakurajima

Similar to the eastern location of Sakurajima, the northwest is just as suitable for a base for crude oil extraction. The fact that this region is slightly elevated means that you have a little protection from attacks and the larger and more open construction area gives you more options for building your base the way you need it. Once again, there are two oil deposits so close to each other that you can easily place two crude oil extractors to collect crude oil as quickly as possible. And as with the previous locations, you can also collect other materials such as stone, coal and sulphur in the north-west. Another bonus in the northwest is definitely the surroundings, as your base here is surrounded by greenery and numerous cherry blossom trees.

The west of Mount Obsidian

Of course, you will find a lot of crude oil on the new Sakurajima Island. However, you will also often come across crude oil in other regions and one of these places is west of Mount Obsidian. In the far west and near the cliff, you will even find 3 oil deposits that are so close together that you can mine crude oil most efficiently here. The aforementioned cliff is of course practical here, as it protects you from attacks from this side at least.

What the perfect crude oil base looks like

You now know which locations are best suited to crude oil mining, but we would also like to give you some tips on how to set up your perfect base and maximize it. As you need a large generator for the crude oil extractor to supply it with sufficient power, you should ideally place Orserk at the generators, as this is the best pal in terms of power. Orserk has level 4 power generation and should therefore be the choice for any power theme. However, to ensure that Orserk does not stop working at some point, you should make sure that he can rest from time to time. There should be enough beds and hot springs available for this, but it's also important to feed your pals, so make sure you have a food box. If you now set up a mining station at the various locations and also place suitable Pals there, your base is practically ready to go and works fully automatically and super-efficiently to extract more than just crude oil.

Tip: Since the Sakurajima update, there is a new passive skill called “Nocturnal”, which ensures that Pals who have it can also work at night. Nocturnal can be passed on through successful breeding, so it takes some work to get the perfect Pals for your crude base.
