10 year anniversary of RUST and the topic of crossplay

Birthday specials from RUST

To mark its 10th anniversary, RUST is offering some cool things, including Twitch Drops, which you can collect if you watch streamers on Twitch who have these drops active. The general drops consist of a beanie hat with Twitch Rivals logo, a Twitch Rivals trophy, a sleeping bag, boots in purple with Twitch logo, a metal chest plate and a metal mask.

In addition to the general drops, you can receive additional drops at the matching "Rust 10th Anniversary Team Battle IV" event. If you watch a Twitch Rivals stream, you can dust off a rocket launcher and a fridge in the brilliant Twitch Rivals design. If you then watch streams from the ten different teams, you can receive a hoodie and a second drop to match the team color. Other drops include weapons, tools, a hat, a furnace, a mask, a stone and an armored double door.

Please note: The Twitch event runs until December 15, so head over to Twitch and collect your drops!

Of course, the 10th birthday is also being celebrated extensively in the game and you can experience various items and, above all, a throwback to RUST Legacy until December 16. For just 500 wood, you can make a piñata and loot some cool extras from it. You can also shoot a confetti cannon and find birthday cakes and birthday hats to really get into the party spirit.

And now it's time for the items that will take you back years and make you feel like you have just started RUST and are discovering the game all over again. The Legacy Wooden Shelter was one of the first structures you probably made in RUST back in the day, so that you were protected from enemy attacks, especially at night, and could take a break while you built your first proper base. Now is the time to rekindle that feeling, because the shelter has found its way back into the game. So the first shelter is no problem, but of course you also have to arm yourself against enemies and RUST has something for that too, because the first bow can be used again if you buy the matching Legacy Bow DLC skin in the RUST Store. In addition to the bow, the much-loved M4 shotgun has also found its way back. You can rarely find it in high-value loot boxes and the weapon has a very high range, especially for a shotgun.

There is also a Legacy Wood Building Skin, which you can also purchase in the RUST Store to change the look of your wooden fortress. Another throwback item is the legendary furnace. You will receive the furnace as a free skin if you only play RUST for 3 hours in December. And the final surprise is the comeback of the Hapis Island map, which is based on the 2018 version and was created by the community.

More features with the 10th anniversary patch

In addition to the many party items and comebacks of popular items from the RUST launch ten years ago, the patch will of course also include the following features and improvements:

• The user interface for painting has been overhauled and more functions have been added. For example, two airbrush types have been added and controls that were previously operated via buttons have now been given sliders
• The shadows in RUST have been reworked and now look more realistic
• Radiation has been added to the oil rig so that players actually have to leave the oil rig when the alarm goes off and the loot can be reset again and again
• When you have opened the map, the compass is no longer displayed during this time

Twitch - "Support a Streamer" campaign and Christmas update

Until December 31st, you can support your favorite RUST streamer on Twitch by purchasing two subscriptions of any tier during RUST's Support a Streamer campaign. The streamer must be live and have selected the RUST category - Prime subscriptions will not work. Once you have redeemed the code you have received on the appropriate page (you must be logged into your Steam account), you will automatically receive the Creator Computer Station, which you can set up as a decoration in RUST. After the Twitch Rivals event ends on December 15 and the birthday promotion ends on December 16, the Christmas update for the RUST PC Edition comes knocking. Like last year, the Christmas event consists of the gift event, the candy cane club, the snowball weapon, ice walls and you can explore gingerbread mines and fight the gingerbread men living there. The Christmas update for the RUST Console Edition is already underway, but will unfortunately only be playable on official servers and not on GPORTAL's private servers.

Is there a crossplay option for RUST?

And finally, the question of all questions: Is it possible to play RUST via crossplay? Unfortunately, we have to say that crossplay for RUST between PC and console is currently not possible and no one can predict whether this will change in the future, but as we all know, hope springs eternal. However, we do have some good news, because now that we at GPORTAL, the market leader in the gameserver industry, are able to offer the first RUST console servers, it is of course also possible to play RUST crossplay between PlayStation and Xbox. In line with all the current events, you can now rent your own RUST console server (and of course PC) flexibly and without any obligations from GPORTAL.
