Ancient Cities in Minecraft
Today we're going deep underground to an eerie place.
Minecraft Ancient Cities
Minecraft is all fun and games until it becomes seriously dangerous for Steve, aka you, the player. Most of the time, this happens when it gets dark and all possible hostile mobs appear for the sole purpose of terrorizing you. How about trying to decide on your own when it’s going to become dangerous? Well, if you seek an adventure of the extreme kind we suggest searching for ancient cities! Minecraft definitely offers you more than enough potential to risk everything on a ride or die adventure if you want to. So, here is what you need to know before starting your trip to a so-called deep dark city.
Why Should I Try to Find Ancient Cities? Minecraft Tips!
Looting, finding chests, maybe earning some XP and having the time of your life along the way? Yeah, this adventure certainly is worth the risk if you love a fright. Ancient cities in Minecraft are relatively new since they were only introduced with the ‘Wild’ update in 2022. They are scary and mysterious old, and well, literally ancient, cities. Minecraft’s developers really did an amazing job in creating this structure in the deep dark biome. Yes, now it makes sense that it is also called a deep dark city, doesn’t it? However, it is exciting but also dangerous. We need to warn you, because you know what? It is at the same time called the warden city. Minecraft doesn’t seem to joke around. Of course you can’t just get a new fascinating building. No, where is the twist then? The twist is the warden, a really not-so-friendly mob. But considering the pros and cons of this adventure, why not take a risk and try finding out how to find ancient cities in Minecraft?

3 Rules for Your Ancient City Minecraft-Adventure!
Are you brave enough to give the ancient city Mincraft-adventure a try? That's great! However, be sure you know exactly what you’re signing up for. It’s deep down, dark and - we can’t stress that enough - dangerous! Luckily for you, we won’t just send you down there to find Minecraft ancient cities. At least we can help you with your mental checklist. Therefore, we thought of 3 rules you should keep in mind at all times!
Prepare yourself!
Sure, this is an easy one. We don’t think you would go down there to find ancient cities in Minecraft without preparation, but we want to make sure you don’t forget anything. Next to some armor (we recommend netherite armor), the obligatory weapons like swords and food to regain health, you should bring light! It might save your life, trust us. Some items for crafting aren’t a bad idea either. However, if you really want to loot this deep dark city, you need free slots in your inventory, so don’t bring unnecessary stuff like flowers. Won’t make the dark look more beautiful anyway. Oh! One last tip: maybe put some enchantments on your weapons.
Expect the Unexpected!
It means exactly what it says: be aware of your surroundings and never be too sure about something. As we mentioned earlier, no building in Minecraft is just nice and peaceful. There are always mobs there. So yeah, go looking for the deep dark, the scariest biome in Minecraft, but be sure you could also just randomly stumble across an entrance. Happened before, trust us.
Turn the Sound on!
This tip is a life saver! There are beautiful sculk blocks down there. But once a sculk sensor notices you via vibration, it could be over. If there are sculk shriekers nearby, they are activated which may result in a warden being triggered to appear. So, turn on the sound and be cautious of the warden’s heartbeat, because it means the mob is close. Also, just as a little side-note: flickering light is not just a warning sign in horror movies, so be aware of that.
H2: Looting Ancient Cities in Minecraft
Well, coming back to the good parts of ancient cities: Minecraft loot. Who doesn’t love a good pillage (if it’s you and not the pillagers destroying some innocent villages)? If you are lucky you can find many things in a deep dark city for there are many chests awaiting you in smaller parts of the building. Items you can find there, include but are not limited to:
- redstone circuit parts
- sculk blocks, sensors & catalysts
- food
- ores like coal
- books
- armor
- compasses
- bones
- enchanted items
However, there is a good chance that the items you can find in Minecraft ancient city chests will be expanded with the upcoming 1.20 'Trails & Tales’ update. Doesn’t this make the adventure even more amazing?
Ancient debris, ancient myths, ancient ruins or ancient cities. Minecraft makes old stuff look really amazing! There is so much to explore that you won’t forget this adventure soon. If you are hooked now to risk everything, find a deep dark city and fight off the warden, a Minecraft server from G-Portal is our place to go! Maybe you should ask some friends for a multiplayer-adventure? Whatever you do: have fun and mind the sculks!
