Leather is an indispensable resource for every bloodthirsty vampire in V Rising and is needed for almost everything. You can find out how to make leather and unlock the Tannery in the GPORTAL blog.

Unlock the tannery and the recipe for leather

To be able to produce leather, you must first unlock the Tannery. To do this, you have to take on the second V Blood Boss. Keely the Frost Archer is a Level 20 archer who shoots at you with nasty frost arrows. You can find Keely in the Bandit Trapper Camp in the eastern Farbane Woods. You can of course find everything about the V Rising regions in our GPORTAL blog.

To track down the V Blood Boss, go to your Blood Altar and select Keely. Activate the tracking of her blood trail and you can set off to finish her off. Once you have successfully won the battle, you can return to your vampire castle. There you will find the new building instructions for the Tannery in the building menu under Refinement. You will need these resources to build the Tannery:

  • 160x Animal Hide
  • 8x Plank

You will also receive further recipes from Keely the Frost Archer. These include leather, the Traveler’s Wrap and the empty waterskin, which you can fill with water and then use for potions and to care for your horse.

How to make leather in V Rising

With the Tannery built, you can now finally produce leather. You need 16x Animal Hide for 1x Leather, which of course means that it is only an advantage if you always have a large supply of Animal Hides. The same applies to leather, because this resource is also used a hell of a lot in V Rising. Another good tip is to set up several Tanneries right away so that you can always produce a lot of leather quickly, especially at the beginning, in order to make good progress. Another way is, of course, to equip the room in which the Tannery is located to suit the building in order to produce leather efficiently, but it is probably easier to build several Tanneries at once.

In V Rising you will need leather, for example, to upgrade your Castle Heart, for armor or even better armor along with other resources, for the Traveler's Wrap, which can protect you a little better from the burning sun, or for the merciless copper weapons.

Crafting thick leather in V Rising

In addition to normal leather, which is often used, there is also thick leather. This is used to craft more and different items than with normal leather. For thick leather, instead of normal animal hide, you need 4x Thick Hide, which you can obtain from wild animals such as bears and wolves from the Hallowed Mountains or find in the Dunley Farmlands. You can get the recipe for the thick leather from the V Blood Boss Frostmaw the Mountain Terror, who can be found in the Hallowed Mountains. You can make better armor with the thick leather than with the normal leather and, above all, a vampire horse saddle and a backpack (Mountain Peak Bag), the recipe for which you can also obtain from V Blood Boss Frostmaw the Mountain Terror.

Crafting pristine leather in V Rising

And the third variant of leather in V Rising is pristine leather. As with the previous types of leather, you will need to have the right animal hide ready. Flawless leather is made from the following resources:

  • 5x Pristine Hide
  • 5x Mutant Grease

You can find Pristine Hide in the Cursed Forest from the following animals: Cursed Wolf, Cursed Bear, Cursed Spitting Toad, Cursed Slime Toad, Werewolf, Mosquito and the Night Lurker. Mutant Grease, on the other hand, can be found in Gloomrot and can be obtained from the enemy creatures there after you have killed them. You can obtain the recipe for the pristine leather by defeating the V Blood Boss Ben the Old Wanderer. He is in the Cursed Forest and is Level 63. You can use the Pristine Leather to make furniture, better armor, another backpack (Pristine Leather Bag) and Bat Leather. You can get the recipe for the backpack as loot from the V Blood Boss called Willfred the Werewolf Chief, who you can find in the Dunley Farmlands at night.

To be able to make bat leather, you will of course also need a recipe for it, which you can get from another V Blood Boss called Gorecrusher the Behemoth, who also sneaks around in the Cursed Forest and is Level 83. You can use the bat leather to make more armor pieces and also a backpack (Bat Leather Bag).
