Palworld Dog Coins: Everything about the new currency

The Palworld developers, Pocketpair, have outdone themselves with the Sakurajima update. The update not only introduces new Pals, weapons and other items to the game, but also the brand new in-game currency called “Dog Coins”. In the following blog article, we explain what you can use the new currency for and how you can obtain them.

About Dog Coins and where you can find them

Dog Coins are the new in-game currency in Palworld, which you can only find scattered around the map and cannot obtain by trading. Dog Coins are gold-green and have a small paw on the surface. You can use the new currency at the so-called medal merchants, which you can also find in Palworld since the Sakurajima update. So if you have already explored your surroundings in Palworld well before, now is the time to open your eyes even wider so that you can also collect a good number of Dog Coins.

Where you can find Dog Coins most easily

A good way to get Dog Coins are the Junk Piles, which you can find randomly scattered throughout the world of Palworld. So always keep an eye out for them, because in addition to Dog Coins, these junk piles can also hold other practical items for you, such as Pal Fragments, which you need to craft all kinds of items. So if you're going on another trip through the world soon, always keep an eye out for scrap piles - ideally you should use a flying Pal to search for scrap piles, which allows you to keep an eye out for them from a safe height.

As a second idea, we can recommend that you go to the new Sakurajima region and search for chests there, which can of course also contain other items, but with a bit of luck you'll also find the odd collection of Dog Coins. This is also a great way to explore the Sakurajima region in more detail.

The alternative to the scrap piles and chests in the Sakurajima region is unfortunately a little more strenuous and, above all, riskier, but still worthwhile if you're on the hunt for the new Palworld currency. Mimog is the name of one of the new Palworld Pals and its special feature is that you can not only find it in various Palworld regions, it usually disguises itself as a chest and is therefore not always directly recognizable as a Pal. In addition to their ability to hide incredibly well, they are super fast and ready to flee as soon as they sense danger. Catching and weakening these Pals will therefore be a bit of a challenge for you, but you will also be rewarded for your hard work.

The last option you have to get Dog Coins is to fight human enemies such as the Syndicate Thugs. Be aware, however, that this is a rather dangerous and probably deadly method of collecting Dog Coins. We would therefore advise you to use the other three options, unless of course you are already hardened and have a protective Pal team around you. Otherwise, you can also visit the new Oil Rig Stronghold to have a lot of enemies in one place, which of course increases the chance of getting Dog Coins.

Locate a Palworld Medal Merchant

After you've worked your way through Pals and piles of scrap metal, you should have collected a good amount of Dog Coins. Now, of course, you want to know what nice things you can buy for the new currency, so you need to find one of the new Palworld Medal Merchants. These spawn randomly on the map, but are mainly to be found in church ruins and in the vicinity of power statues. You shouldn't be able to overlook the Medal Merchant, because in addition to his size, he has a rather striking appearance thanks to his golden cloak.
