Sons of the Forest Guide: Armor
Weapons are the best way to fight and win battles against mutants, cannibals and other enemies in Sons of the Forest. But of course, strong armor is also an advantage and there are six different ones in Sons of the Forest. Below you can find out which armors they are and how you can get them.
The Leaf Armor
One of the first armors you can craft is the leaf armor. It does not require very expensive resources to obtain, because it is made from leaves and cloth. The armor value is not incredibly high with this version, but it is good for hunting wildlife in a hidden way and clearing camps, as you can better blend in with the forest and therefore hide with full leaf armor.
Hide Armor
Before you start looking for the components for the hide armor, you should make and put on a full leaf armor so that you will have more success in hunting moose and deer. For the hide armor, as the name suggests, you will need hide and cloth. That means you need to kill several deer and preferably moose and skin them. Deer give 1x hide and moose 2x. The hide armor has little armor value, but it keeps you warm, which is an advantage especially in winter or in the mountainous snow biome.
Bone Armor
If the first cannibals have found their way to your base or you have already fought the first successful battles against them, you have probably already tried to remove the garbage lying around from them with fire. What remains are the bones, which you can use to make the bone armor. Besides bones, you will also need tape and ropes to make the armor.
Mutant Armor
The first truly protective armor is the mutant armor, and it is also the first armor that you cannot make yourself. As the name again suggests, you have to mess with the aggressive mutants and kill them, then skin them and collect some mutant armor in return. Before you head into the mutant-infested caves, you should equip yourself with strong weapons, enough food, medicine and a good light source.
Golden Armor
You need to find this armor in a cave, which is located in the west of the mountain biome by a lake. In front of the entrance to the cave there are two corpses of cultivists dressed in white, so you should not miss that one. Before you enter the cave, you also need to be very well equipped, because it is occupied by such disgusting creatures that you do not even want to imagine. Besides the normal items like food and medicine, you will need the Rebreather, as the cave is partly flooded with water. You will find the armor in the depths of the cave - you will meet a corpse wearing the armor and lying on a kind of golden altar. Should you wonder why the armor does not really do much against previous enemies, then it will be helpful for you to know that it is more effective against attacks from demons.
Tech Armor
As the last, but most valuable armor, we present you the tech armor. You can make parts of it yourself, but not in your inventory. For the armor you first need to find the bunker with the 3D printer. Once you have found the printer, you can use printer resin to print so-called tech mesh. In addition to the tech mesh, you will also need the following resources for each piece of armor: circuit board, battery, wire and tape. Once you have all the parts together, you can create the complete tech armor and therefore have the strongest armor in the game.
Crafting Armor in Inventory
For the armors you can craft in your inventory, you need to collect all the resources and open your inventory. Right-click on each ingredient, then select the melodious gear and part of the armor will be crafted. For a whole armor you need ten single parts to be able to create it completely. If you want to show off your armor in your base, you can display it on armor stands.
Some armors wear out faster than others. For example, leaf and hide armor do not last long and break quickly, as does bone armor, which can only take a few hits before the individual pieces break and you are left without protection. So even though you are wearing armor, make sure that you take little to no hits from enemies.
Which armor is the strongest?
The strongest armor in terms of protection against any attacks is definitely the tech armor. However, if you prefer to face demons, the golden armor is the first choice for you, and if you like to stay in caves or go exploring, the mutant armor is a good choice, as it gives increased protection against mutants.
