Sons of the Forest: Patch 12

New cave with pickaxe and weapon upgrades

In the northern east in Sons of the Forest, there is a new cave to explore. In addition to another mysterious item, you will find new building instructions and a pickaxe. You can find the pickaxe in the cave on a wall, where it is stuck in a mineral called Solafite. Once you have found the pickaxe, you will be able to mine Solafite in any other cave from this point on, because you will need the mineral for upgrades to weapons and other tools from now on.

The new building instruction from the cave gives you the possibility to build a kind of smelting furnace, which you can fill with Solafite to get upgrades for your weapons and tools. If your base has no strong defenses, you should not build the furnace near it, as a mutant wave will appear and attack you as soon as you turn on the furnace for the first time. Another option is a small island, which is suitable as a safe place for the furnace as long as the water around it is not frozen. In order to upgrade your items, you need to put Solafite in the furnace and the item you want to upgrade. Once the upgrade is done, you can take the item out of the furnace again and enjoy more strength, besides the noble look in gold brass. For the furnace you need the following resources:

• 29x Sticks
• 7x Rocks
• 4x Batteries
• 3x Wire
• 3x Turtle Shell

Illuminated cross and new animations for Kelvin and Virginia

In the Rebreather Cave, you can also find a new building instruction that allows you to build an illuminated, large wooden cross. The wooden cross is peppered with light bulbs and is quite large and can actually be a good source of light as well, though you should not move too far away from it because then the radius will not be enough. For the illuminated wooden cross you need:

• 9x Light Bulb
• 2x Wire
• 1x Half of a Trunk
• 1x Whole Trunk Half

Virginia and Kelvin already have a few animations that they use more or less appropriately depending on the situation. With Sons of the Forest Patch 12 some new animations are added, for example Virginia now laughs when Kelvin is hit by a small stone or Kelvin nods at you when you nod at him. Also, Kelvin can now complete more than one Blueprint in a row as long as he has enough resources.

More new features

Of course, as in every new Sons of the Forest patch, there are some more features that improve the game. Below we list a few more changes:

• If you stand on ramps, for example when building a roof, you finally do not slide down them anymore. A new milestone in building!
• You have a new sensitivity setting in the menu while aiming at distant points
• Firearms are not as effective on mutants as before and at the same time they have more health
• The mutants fingers and twins are more aggressive than before and attack faster
• Leaders of cannibals and guards of a camp can call for help and backup faster once they have been alarmed by a player
• Sprinklers actually can work as they are supposed to since Patch 12, as they can now extinguish players who are on fire and wash blood from players and used weapons, for example
• Golf clubs are not only for hitting golf balls, you can now also use them to hit animal heads into the air
• In the world and caves of Sons of the Forest you can find, for example, hanging skeletons on trees or other new items
