Valheim Best Weapons - Overview

Krom - the longsword

The two-handed Krom sword is currently the strongest weapon in Valheim, with the highest impact damage of 150/450. However, using the Krom is not that easy to learn, as the swing is quite slow and you need to have the right timing while parrying, for example, to make the sword really effective. For this reason, many players choose to use the Mistwalker sword, as mistakes in handling it are more forgiving - but with enough practice, the Krom sword will be a welcomed companion. If you want to craft the longsword, you will need the Black Forge and the following resources:

• 30x Iron
• 20x Bronze
• 5x Scale Hide

Hint: You can farm the scale hide from the rabbits ("Hare") that you can find in the Mistlands.

Black Metal Atgeir - keeping groups in line

The main attack of this staff weapon is a long-range 3-bar combo with double damage on the last hit. The secondary attack is an AoE slash, which causes tumbling six times and has a range of three meters. The tumbling makes the Black Metal Atgeir the perfect weapon for crowd control, as you can attack multiple targets in the area. To craft, you will need a forge and these resources:

• 30x Black Metal
• 10x Fine Wood
• 5x Linen Thread

Draugr Fang - caution, poisonous

As a bow that transfers poison to the arrows it shoots, it is the only one besides the Spine Snap that has a second damage type. A nice effect of this bow: the poison effect of it adds up to the effect of poison arrows. Also impressive is its already very high base damage, which makes it easier for you to take out many enemies from a distance in peace. Be aware, that thanks to its luminosity, you can be spotted faster while sneaking, whether by prey or enemies. To craft it, you will need the following resources:

• 20x Silver
• 10x Guck
• 10x Ancient Bark
• 2x Deer Hide

Spine Snap - additional spirit damage

Thanks to the Mistlands update, the newest bow called "Spine Snap" has found its way to Valheim. This bow has high base damage and adds extra spirit damage, making it the strongest bow in Valheim, at least based on the stats. However, it consumes a lot of stamina during its use, so if that bothers you, the Draugr Fang might be a good alternative for you. If you can master the Spine Snap well, it is a damn deadly and effective weapon in Valheim. To craft it, you will need the Black Forge and the following resources:

• 40x Bone Fragments
• 10x Fine Wood
• 10x Refined Eitr

Staff of Embers - Open Fire

One of the four magical weapons in Valheim is called the Staff of Embers, and as the name suggests, it gets hot. Its main attack is a fireball that deals blunt damage on direct hits and fire damage in the form of an explosion, which in turn ignites and adds area damage. However, this staff consumes a not-so-small amount of Eitr each time it is used. If you wish to craft this magical weapon, you will need a Galdr table and the following resources:

• 20x Yggdrasil Wood
• 16x Refined Eitr
• 4x Surtling Core

Frostner, Mistwalker and Porcupine

Weapons like the Frostner, Mistwalker, or Porcupine do not have an enormously high damage value, but they are still very popular among Valheim players, as the Frostner and Mistwalker, for example, have frost and spirit damage in addition to blunt and slash damage. Thanks to its high knockback and the frost and spirit damage, the Frostner is an ideal weapon against different and especially several enemies at once. The frost damage is very handy, as you can freeze your enemies with it, from simply slowing them down to completely freezing them. The caused spirit damage on the other hand is especially effective against undead like skeletons or draugr. If you are otherwise not much of a mace player in Valheim, you might still want to consider trying the Frostner at least once - it is very effective against the boss Yagluth, for example. For crafting you need a forge and:

• 30x Silver
• 10x Ancient Bark
• 5x Ymir Flesh
• 5x Freeze Gland

Its name already reveals it: the Mistwalker is a sword that can light your way with its glow, especially in the fog. As always, glowing items make you easier to spot while sneaking around. With the really high block value, it is even better at this point than the otherwise very strong black metal sword. If you want to craft the Mistwalker, you will need to visit a black forge and you need these resources also:

• 15x Iron
• 10x Refined Eitr
• 3x Fine Wood
• 3x Wisp

The name of this weapon is very appropriately chosen, as the spikes of this morning star weapon can deal blunt or pierce damage, making the Porcupine effective against many enemies in Valheim. Thankfully, this weapon is a one-handed mace, which means you can carry a shield in addition - a torch is almost not worth it, as the weapon itself gives off a slight glow, even when holstered. To craft it, you will need to collect these resources:

• 20x Iron
• 10x Linen Thread
• 5x Fine Wood
• 5x Needle
