Minecraft Fermented Spider Eye
Spider eyes? That's right! You'll find spiders at every corner of Minecraft, and today we'll explain what you can do with them.
The Fermented Spider Eye
Spiders are one of the most common mobs in Minecraft you can face. And with a little luck, you can even get one or two of their eight eyes. But what to do with those? Don’t worry, even these small eyes can have a big impact on your journey! That is, if you know how to use them, which is exactly what you will learn here. Spoilers: Fermenting them is probably the best!
How to make Fermented Spider Eyes in Minecraft
Of course, before you can ferment a spider eye, you need some ingredients. First and foremost, a spider eye is necessary. In a big twist no one saw coming, spiders are the easiest way to get spider eyes. Just whack them a few times with the weapon of your choice (we recommend a sword) and these 8-legged troublemakers should go down pretty easily. Although spiders can only drop one eye and not up to eight for some reason. If you’re fine with having spider eyes not fresh from the source, witches are your next best bet. Depending on your level of looting, these magicians can drop up to 15 spider eyes at once. What are the witches doing with them? Probably brewing, or maybe they’re on a spider eye-diet, who knows?
Now, you might wonder what you can do with the eyes you just claimed for yourself. As with many things in life, spider eyes can be eaten, but that doesn’t mean that you should. While they do restore some hunger and saturation, they also poison you and do 4 damage. Overall, we can’t recommend eating spider eyes, unless you want to actively handicap yourself. For something more useful, you need the eyes and a few more ingredients.
Once you’re done with not eating the eyes, you need only two more things: A brown mushroom and some sugar. On first sight, this may sound like the worst dinner recipe ever, and it is. But it is also the fermented spider eye recipe:
1x Brown Mushroom + 1x Sugar + 1x Spider Eye = 1x Fermented Spider Eye
The Minecraft Fermented Spider Eye: What to do with it
Now that you have the fabled fermented spider eye, one question remains: What do you do with it? Of course, keeping one in your personal loot chest is always a step up in interior design. And it may even bring you luck on your journeys if you believe hard enough.
As for the intended use: that is a bit more limited, unfortunately. The fermented spider eye is only used on the brewing table. Combining it with a potion creates new potions with fun and harmless sounding names such as: Potion of Weakness, Potion of Harming and Potion of Slowness. As these names suggest, they only have negative effects, which in turn makes them great for fighting mobs. Reducing damage mobs can do, slowing them down or damaging them outright, these potions have something for everyone. For more detailed information, see the table below:
The Potion of Invisibility
Reading the table, you might wonder: „Wait, what’s this Potion of Invisibility?“ And you be right to do so. The potion of invisibility is the fourth potion you can brew using a fermented spider eye. As the name suggests, drinking this potion makes you invisible, except for you armor and anything you are holding. In fact, this potion is the only one you can make with the fermented spider eye that has a positive effect for you.

What to do with these Potions
With these potions and their effects, there really is only one thing to do with them: Throw them away. If you want to get a bit of use out of them, throw them into the nearest mob’s face. After all: If it can damage you, it can also damage them. They can be especially useful when combined with the Ender Dragon’s Breath. The potion of invisibility can also make for a nice challenge, since you will be attacked by invisible mobs. Other than that… Well, you can drink them to make your run more difficult.
Conclusion about the Minecraft Fermented Spider Eye
All in all, the fermented spider eye is really only useful for producing potions with negative effects. If you want potions to heal yourself, the fermented spider eye is quite useless, though the invisibility potion can make your travels a bit safer.
