In the brutal world of 7 Days to Die, new and surprising dangers lurk around every corner. It feels like everything in Navezgane poses a risk to you and, above all, your health. If you suffer from infections, for example, you should treat them as quickly as possible and antibiotics are particularly suitable for this.

How do the 7 Days to Die antibiotics work?

As soon as you venture out into the wide world in the popular zombie survival game, you will inevitably encounter zombies. These, in turn, will not only inflict physical damage on you with effective hits, but also have the potential to give you a rather unpleasant infection. If such an infection remains untreated and you ignore it, you will quickly suffer the consequences and possibly even die. If you have contracted an infection, there is a small battle against time, depending on the extent of the infection. On the left-hand side of the screen you have a reliable overview of your infection, which also reveals its severity.

There are a total of 4 stages that an infection can reach - at a lower stage, you can still help with honey or herbal antibiotics, but if it rises to a higher stage, you should urgently take antibiotics. If you take the right dose of antibiotics, you will heal fairly quickly and reliably. So if you have caught an infection with a stage higher than 1, you should no longer resort to honey, even if it is somewhat easier to obtain than antibiotics. And even if herbal antibiotics don't help quite as well as normal antibiotics, we will also discuss this below.

Finding and producing antibiotics

Crafting your own antibiotics should of course be one of your goals at some point during the game. However, this is rather tedious at first and you should therefore keep an eye out for antibiotics from the start of the game. Medicine cabinets, which can be found mainly in hospitals, other buildings and bathrooms, pill boxes in Pop-N-Pills or any cupboards and crates are particularly suitable for this.

To be able to craft them, you need to make quite a few preparations and collect a lot of materials. One approach is to craft over a campfire, which is not necessarily recommended, even if the campfire means a little less work. You can either use an existing campfire, which you can find anywhere on the map, or you can make one yourself and only need 5x Stone. You will also need a measuring cup, which you cannot make yourself. Measuring cup locations are also hospitals, Pop-N-Pills stores or even cupboards and crates. When using the campfire, make sure that it contains enough fuel, otherwise you will not be able to produce antibiotics. Another bonus from the campfire is a buff that gives you cold resistance. Below you will find the recipe for antibiotics, which you can learn by reading 60/75 medicine magazines:

  • 4x Old Sham Sandwich
  • 3x Nitrate Powder
  • 1x Water

There is another option thanks to the Chemistry Station, because with this you need fewer resources to produce antibiotics and it is much quicker. You can also find the Chemistry Station in Navezgane, but having your own naturally has more advantages as it is always close to you. You can learn the recipe for the Chemistry Station by reading 50/75 Forge Ahead magazines. If you want to know more about the 7 Days to Die Crafting Skills Magazines, we recommend our blog. You will need the following materials to craft the Chemistry Station:

  • 100x Forged Iron
  • 30x Short Iron Pipe
  • 5x Bottle with Acid
  • 3x Cooking Pot
  • 1x Beaker

To be able to produce antibiotics at the chemistry station, you will need the following resources:

  • 1x Old Sham Sandwich
  • 1x Nitrate Powder
  • 1x Water

Making plant-based antibiotics

The alternative to conventional antibiotics are plant-based antibiotics, which you can also produce yourself. The two options are again related to the campfire and the chemistry station, but you will already receive the recipe for herbal antibiotics after reading 30/75 medicine magazines. For the campfire, you will need a cooking pot and the following materials instead of a measuring cup:

  • 5x Blueberries
  • 3x Mushroom
  • 3x Chrysanthemum
  • 3x Nitrate Powder
  • 1x Water

At the chemistry station, you need fewer resources and lose less time, just like with the normal antibiotics. Below are the ingredients for production at the chemistry station:

  • 2x Blueberries
  • 1x Mushroom
  • 1x Chrysanthemum
  • 1x Nitrate Powder
  • 1x Water

Effect of conventional and herbal antibiotics

If you are suffering from a severe infection, you will not be able to avoid antibiotics. With the herbal antibiotics you can cure 10% of your infection per dose and with the normal antibiotics you can even cure 25% per dose. Even though making or finding antibiotics can be tedious and sometimes sobering, you should definitely stock up on a good supply so that you are covered just in case. However, it is important that you don't reach for antibiotics every time you get the slightest infection, as even honey can cure 5% of an infection. So keep your antibiotics until you have a really serious and therefore dangerous infection. You can also find more information about 7 Days to Die infections in our blog.
