Finding and producing antibiotics

Crafting your own antibiotics should of course be one of your goals at some point during the game. However, this is rather tedious at first and you should therefore keep an eye out for antibiotics from the start of the game. Medicine cabinets, which can be found mainly in hospitals, other buildings and bathrooms, pill boxes in Pop-N-Pills or any cupboards and crates are particularly suitable for this.

To be able to craft them, you need to make quite a few preparations and collect a lot of materials. One approach is to craft over a campfire, which is not necessarily recommended, even if the campfire means a little less work. You can either use an existing campfire, which you can find anywhere on the map, or you can make one yourself and only need 5x Stone. You will also need a measuring cup, which you cannot make yourself. Measuring cup locations are also hospitals, Pop-N-Pills stores or even cupboards and crates. When using the campfire, make sure that it contains enough fuel, otherwise you will not be able to produce antibiotics. Another bonus from the campfire is a buff that gives you cold resistance. The alternative to conventional antibiotics are plant-based antibiotics, which you can also produce yourself. For the campfire, you will need a cooking pot and the following materials instead of a measuring cup:

• 3x Mushroom
• 3x Chrysanthemum

Effect of conventional and herbal antibiotics

If you are suffering from a severe infection, you will not be able to avoid antibiotics. With the herbal antibiotics you can cure 10% of your infection per dose and with the normal antibiotics you can even cure 25% per dose. Even though making or finding antibiotics can be tedious and sometimes sobering, you should definitely stock up on a good supply so that you are covered just in case. However, it is important that you don't reach for antibiotics every time you get the slightest infection, as even honey can cure 5% of an infection.
